In Memory of Nobel Laureate, EUTCC patron and friend of the Kurds, playwright Harold Pinter27 December 2008 Press Release: For immediate release In memory of Nobel Laureate, EUTCC patron and friend of the Kurds, Playwright Harold Pinter EU Turkey Civic Commission (EUTCC) has received the sad message that the dear, prominent and internationally recognised playwright Harold Pinter died in London December 25, at the age of 78. Since 2004 Harold Pinter was a Patron of the EUTCC along with Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Shirin Ebadi, Council of Europe Goodwill Ambassador Bianca Jagger, Kurdish writer Yasar Kemal, Kurdish spokesperson Leyla Zana and writer and Professor Noam Chomsky. Harold Pinter’s warm and insightful greetings to the annual international conferences in the European Parliament regarding the situation of the Kurds in Turkey was inspiring and of high value to the work of EUTCC. Harold Pinter’s tireless work for the Kurds will live forever and stand as a monument of his memory. His death is a great loss to all of us. The EUTCC expresses its deepest condolences to Harold Pinter’s family and friends.
